Message from chairmanship

Why I Am Running for Chairmanship of the Peace, Justice, and Development Party (PJDP)

With great humility and a deep sense of responsibility, I announce my candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Peace, Justice, and Development Party (PJDP). Somalia stands at a pivotal moment in its history, and I believe that through dedicated leadership, we can shape a future built on peace, fairness, and sustainable progress. In this blog, I will share why I am running for this crucial position, the vision I bring, and what it means for the future of our beloved nation.

1. The Call for Leadership in Uncertain Times

Somalia faces significant challenges today—from economic struggles and political instability to social inequalities and security concerns. These are not easy obstacles to overcome, but they are not insurmountable either. I believe that strong, principled leadership is the key to navigating these complexities. It is in moments like these that we must come together, grounded in a vision of peace, justice, and development, to overcome divisions and build a unified Somalia. My candidacy for Chairmanship is driven by a genuine commitment to lead our party and our nation through these challenging times. I am ready to work with every Somali, to listen to every voice, and to forge a path forward that brings us closer to the prosperous, peaceful nation we all aspire to see.

2. A Vision Rooted in the Party’s Core Values

The Peace, Justice, and Development Party has always stood for the core values that our nation needs now more than ever. My vision for the party—and for Somalia—centers on these guiding principles, ensuring that they are not just ideals, but lived realities for all citizens:
  • Peace: The foundation of any thriving society. We must create a peaceful Somalia where every region, community, and individual can feel secure. This requires not just enforcing security, but addressing the root causes of conflict through dialogue, reconciliation, and economic opportunities that lift everyone.
  • Justice: Fairness and equality before the law must become the hallmark of our nation. As Chairman, I will push for judicial reforms, strengthen anti-corruption measures, and ensure that every Somali, regardless of background, has access to justice.
  • Development: Economic growth must be inclusive and sustainable. We will focus on infrastructure development, creating jobs, improving education, and empowering women and youth. Our goal is to build an economy that works for all Somalis, not just the few.

3. Uniting a Divided Nation

Somalia’s divisions, whether political, tribal, or regional, continue to hinder our progress. My leadership will prioritize national unity, bringing together all factions under one shared national agenda. We must foster an inclusive political culture, where dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect are the cornerstones of our democracy. As Chairman, I will ensure that the Peace, Justice, and Development Party sets an example for political cooperation and unity, working with all stakeholders—opposition parties, civil society, and the international community—to create a political environment where every Somali feels heard and represented.

4. The Power of Youth and Women in Leadership

No nation can move forward without fully embracing the potential of its youth and women. I envision a Somalia where youth empowerment is at the heart of our political and economic policies. Somalia’s young population is our greatest asset, and my leadership will focus on creating opportunities in education, employment, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to lead our country into a prosperous future. In addition, women’s empowerment will be a central part of my agenda. We must break down the barriers that prevent women from participating in leadership, politics, and business. I will advocate for policies that promote gender equality and ensure that women have a strong voice in shaping our nation’s future.

5. Strengthening the Party’s Infrastructure and Capacity

For PJDP to lead Somalia effectively, we must first strengthen our internal structures. If elected as Chairman, I will prioritize the professionalization of the party by:
  • Investing in party infrastructure to ensure that we have robust systems and processes in place for decision-making, membership engagement, and public outreach.
  • Developing leadership capacities within the party, especially at the grassroots level. We must train and empower young leaders within PJDP to take on significant roles, ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of our party.
  • Fostering transparency and accountability, both within the party and in government. We must be a model of good governance, setting the standard for how a political party should operate with integrity, openness, and a focus on serving the people.

6. A Roadmap for Economic Growth and Job Creation

Somalia’s economic potential is vast, but underutilized. I have a clear vision for an inclusive and diversified economy that creates jobs, stimulates growth, and raises living standards for all. My economic plan focuses on:
  • Investing in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock—industries that are the backbone of our rural economy and have the potential to be engines of growth.
  • Boosting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through access to credit, training, and support, to create a vibrant entrepreneurial culture.
  • Promoting infrastructure development, particularly in transport, energy, and ICT, to create jobs and lay the foundation for a thriving modern economy.
  • Encouraging foreign investment through stable policies, anti-corruption measures, and an open-door approach to international partnerships that respect Somali sovereignty.

7. An Open Invitation to All Somalis

I believe that no leader can succeed without the support and collaboration of the people. Therefore, my candidacy for the Chairmanship of PJDP is an invitation to all Somalis—whether you are a long-time supporter of PJDP, an undecided voter, or even a critic—to join me in this journey. Together, we can chart a new course for Somalia. One where peace is our reality, justice is our guiding principle, and development is the shared goal that unites us all.

8. Looking Ahead: The Promise of Progress

Somalia is a resilient nation. We have faced adversity and emerged stronger each time. I have immense faith in the potential of our people and in the capacity of our party to lead Somalia into a future of peace, justice, and development. As your potential Chairman, I pledge to work tirelessly, to listen to the voices of every Somali, and to lead with integrity, humility, and a relentless commitment to progress. I am confident that together, we can achieve the Somalia we all dream of—a country of opportunity, unity, and hope. Let us build that future together.
